Reading tracking numbers:

Explanation of tracking numbers and how to read them, in order to help the consumer and make them easier to understand

First: What are tracking numbers?

Tracking numbers are a combination of different letters and numbers. Each parcel is given a unique tracking number by the postal company so that they can track its location. Tracking numbers come in a variety of formats, but there are four main types that you will encounter:

UW470725186CN - S00000185868615 - RB926965657SG - LP00197751848569

Second: What do the letters and numbers in a tracking number mean?

The first letter tells you if the parcel is registered or not:

U: Unregistred, meaning the mail is not registered.

S: Unregistred but fast (usually air mail) and the numbers starting with the letter S are for Yanwen and Cainiao mail.

R: Registred, meaning the mail is registered.

L: Priority mail, which is usually registered and air mail.

The last letters indicate the country from which the parcel came. For example: CN stands for China, SG stands for Singapore, SE for Sweden, TR for Turkey, etc.

The first eight numbers are identification numbers specific to the parcel and vary from parcel to parcel. The ninth number is a verification number for the postal company.

Third: Where do I enter the tracking number to get the information?

You can enter the tracking number on the Aliexpress website to track the status of your order. You can also enter the tracking number on the website of the postal company that shipped the parcel.

Fourth: What do the information that appears on the tracking website mean and how do I read them?

The parcel goes through three stages of transportation. Here are the information that appears on the tracking website of the Singapore Post as an example to explain what each stage means:

Stage 1: When the parcel is in China and ends when the parcel leaves the Chinese sorting center (we are talking about China because most of our purchases are from there)

  • Order Information Received By carrier: This means that the seller has registered the parcel on the post office website.
  • Shippement information received: This means that the seller has deposited the parcel with the postal company and the parcel has begun to move.
  • Accepted by carrier: This means that the transportation process within China from the seller to the Chinese sorting center has begun.
  • Inbound In Sorting Center: This means that the parcel has entered the Chinese sorting center.
  • Outbound in Sorting Center: This means that the parcel has been checked and has left the Chinese sorting center.
  • Received by line-haul: This means that the parcel has been deposited with the carrier company (usually airlines).
  • Handover to airline: This means that the parcel is being loaded onto the plane and this is where stage 1 ends. Most of the tracking of unregistered mail stops at this point and will not give you any new information until it arrives.

Stage 2: This is the stage of transportation from China to Algeria, which is usually via airplanes and ends when the parcel enters the national parcel sorting center in Algeria.

  • Despatched to overseas (Country code: DZ): This means that the plane has taken off and the parcel is on its way to Algeria.

  • Arrival at Processing Center (Country Code: DZ): This means that the parcel has entered the national parcel sorting center in Algeria. It usually stays there for 7 to 10 days. At this stage, some unregistered mail carriers, such as Yanwen and unregistered Turkish mail, will notify you that your parcel has entered Algeria. However, they will not provide you with any other information until your parcel arrives.

Stage 3: This is the stage of transportation of the parcel in Algeria until it reaches you.

  • Receive item at delivery office (Country: DZ): This means that the parcel has arrived at the regional parcel center.
  • Receive item at delivery office (Country: Dz): This is the information that will appear after one or two days of the first one. It means that the parcel is at the provincial parcel center.
  • Attempted/Failed Delivery (Country Code:DZ): This only appears on the Singapore Post website. It means that the parcel is at your local post office and you can go and pick it up.
  • Delivered: The parcel has been delivered.

Conclusion:

By understanding the meaning of tracking numbers, you can track the status of your order and know when it will arrive. This information can be useful for planning
